Meet Me in St. Louis

St Louis ArchI’m traveling today! I’m headed for the ACFW conference (the American Christian Fiction Writers), which is my biggest and most intense conference of the year. I hear there will be more than 700 attendees (wow!).

I’m scheduled for 25 pitch appointments with writers seeking an agent, 12 appointments-coffees-lunches with editors, and 18 meetings with my clients. Phew! Doesn’t get much more fun than that. I’m not teaching a workshop this time—a nice break since I taught workshops at conferences the last two months.

I hope to get in some early morning jogging time, too. Apparently there are some nice trails right by the Arch in the downtown area.

I’ll get some posts up while I’m gone but I won’t have much time for comment interaction.

Hope I see many of you in St. Louis!

At any rate, have a wonderful time. Safe travels, Rachelle.

  5. otin says:

Have a safe and wonderful trip!

  6. Safe travels, Rachelle! Nice to know about the trails. I might see you out there (in a nonstalkerish way, I promise). :)

  7. Cathy West says:

You mean I should pack my sneakers?? Bhahaha, no. I’ll meet you in the lobby with Starbucks in hand when you return… :) I know it’s going to be crazy busy but it’s always fun too! Safe travels and see you in St. Louis!

  8. Peter DeHaan says:

So that’s 55 scheduled meetings — and time for a morning jog. I’m tired just thinking about it!

  9. Have a blast!!!!! SO SO bummed I’m missing this year, but I’m praying and hoping for Dallas!

  10. Jen Daiker says:

Have a blast! Oh if there was ever a reason to want to live in St. Louis!!!

  11. Wendy says:

  12. Janet Bettag says:

Enjoy your time in The Lou. Sounds like your schedule is pretty hectic, but if you can fit in some play time, check out some of our local attractions. The Art Museum, History Museum and Science Center are some of my favorites

  13. TC Avey says:

Wish I was going to be able to make it. I pray you have a fun, productive and safe trip.

  14. Rick Barry says:

Have a safe trip, and may the Lord direct your steps (when not jogging) to just the right contacts for your agency, and to those specific individuals who could especially benefit from your experience and insight.

I don’t have anything to pitch to you just now, but if we cross paths I’ll be sure to say, “Hi!”

  15. I’m so excited for my first ACFW go-round!

  16. The excitement has already started. The hotel had a mix up and two of our board members had to stay across the road last night. But our first meeting was awesome and meeting other early arrivals yesterday was so fun.

I can’t wait to see everyone else as they arrive.

Be sure to check out the silent auction this year. I can’t believe some of the great offerings, iPad, kindle, cloud storage units and more.

  17. Lynn Rush says:

    Enjoy the conference!!! :)

  18. Wish I could be there with you, Rachelle! Next year. :)

  19. Bon voyage! When I moved away from St Louis in 1964, the Gateway Arch still looked like parentheses. Looong time ago. Have a great conference.

  20. St. Louis is a place that needs love. With tornado damage and urban blight you can see from the highway it is a place that needs prayer and then some. I’m sending my Rocky Mountain love to St. Louis.

  21. Hmmm, I’m seriously thinking about packing my jogging stuff. I didn’t know there were trails. Thanks for that info! If I see you, I’m going to give you a big smile but I think you might be too busy for a hi. LOL Have fun with all that talking you’ll have to do!

  22. I’m one of the writers hoping for one of those 25 appointments. But even if I don’t get it it’s still going to be a wonderful time of learning and fun.

  23. Sherrie says:

Will you be at the La Jolla Writer’s Conference this year?
    I hope so!

  24. LLKing says:

    Enjoy, Rachelle!

  25. The more security you have the better off your customers will be as well as ther stored goods

  26. Erynn says:

And I thought *I* was exhausted! Still a little overwhelmed by all there is to catch up on now that we’re back. I’m sure your load is 10 times what mine is.
Congrats on all the success. I’m so thrilled that I was able to meet you. Such a God thing. You were my first choice for my agent appointment, but I didn’t get you. I didn’t want to be one of those people who accosts you in the hallway, and I just knew your table would always fill up before I could get there (unless I was willing to throw elbows);).
But then I volunteered to help put out the books on Saturday afternoon, so I was there when they put up your placard. So I made a beeline as soon as the doors were open. And you weren’t scary at all! =)
Off to go put to use all the information I gleaned in those workshops so I can polish my MS and get it off to you.
